Sophomore Thomas Conerty and freshman Ryan Hanson each scored their first goals of the season as the eighth-ranked Hope College men's soccer team routed Grace Bible College 5-0 on Thursday.
The Flying Dutchmen won their third consecutive match as they improved to 4-1 overall.
Conerty, of Ada, Michigan (Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central HS), and Hanson, of Franklin, Michigan (Southfield Christian HS), closed the scoring for Hope with late second-half goals at Van Andel Soccer Stadium. Senior Jonathan DeVries assisted on Conerty's goal.
Senior Cameron Dice of Allendale, Michigan (Hudsonville Unity Christian HS), added unassisted goals in each half for the Flying Dutchmen. He now has scored three times on the season.
Sophomore Josh Hagene of Caledonia, Michigan (East Kentwood HS), opened the scoring in the 17th minute. He netted his team-leading fourth goal of the season off an assist from senior Logan Sikkenga of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville HS).
Hope did not allow a shot on goal to Grace Bible (0-3).
The Flying Dutchmen return to action on Saturday, Sept. 13, when they host Denison (Ohio) at 5 p.m. at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
