The Hope College men's soccer team extended its win streak to four matches on Saturday by downing Denison (Ohio) 3-1 at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
The eighth-ranked Flying Dutchmen used three first-half goals in the nonleague match to raise their overall record to 5-1.
Senior co-captain Cameron Dice of Allendale, Michigan (Hudsonville Unity Christian HS) opened the scoring 24 minutes, 18 seconds into the first half with a shot from 25 yards out. It was Dice's fourth goal of the season.
Leading goalscorer Josh Hagene followed Dice 48 seconds later. The sophomore from Caledonia, Michigan (East Kentwood HS) scored his fifth goal of the season off an assist from junior Andreas Slette of Holland, Michigan (Holland HS).
Slette then added his first goal of the season with 8:26 remaining in the first half to push Hope's lead to 3-0.
Junior Ethan Beswick of Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven HS), made three saves for the Flying Dutch.
Hope returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 17, when the Flying Dutchmen open Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play at Trine. Kickoff is 4 p.m.
