Hope Women's Golf Wins Season's First MIAA Jamboree

The Hope College women's golf team teed off Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play on a winning note.

The Flying Dutch shot a team score of 330 to win the league's first jamboree of the season on Wednesday.

Hope finished five strokes ahead of three-time MIAA champion Olivet. Other team scores were Trine (337), Saint Mary's (338), Calvin (357), Adrian (382), Albion (388), Alma (409) and Kalamazoo (412).

The Flying Dutch have now won three tournaments this season, all in succession.

Freshman Megan Klintworth of Jackson, Michigan (Hanover-Horton HS), shot a second-place 79 to top Hope.

Senior Montana Leep of Hastings, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian HS), carded a fifth-place 81 for the Flying Dutch.

Sophomore Britni Gielow of Norton Shores, Michigan (Mona Shores HS), tied for seventh for Hope with an 84.

Freshman Nicole Meyer of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton HS), tied for 12th for the Flying Dutch with an 86.

Junior Morgan Leep of Hastings, Michigan (South Christian HS), shot a 90 for Hope.

Hope returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 27, at the MIAA Jamboree hosted by Alma. Tee time is 1 p.m. at Pine River Country Club.
