Two third-period goals lifted the Hope College ice hockey to a 5-3 win against Grand Valley State University on Saturday and a weekend sweep.
Senior forward Rob Calvert of Ada, Michigan (Forest Hills Eastern HS), gave the Flying Dutchmen a 4-3 lead 1 minute, 8 seconds into the third period at Edge Ice Arena.
Freshmen forwards Evan Fall of Royal Oak, Michigan (Royal Oak HS), and Garrett Gormley of Fenton, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic HS), assisted on the play.
Gormley, pictured, added a goal with seven seconds remaining in the third period.
The win was Hope's third in three days and fifth in a row. The Flying Dutchmen beat Colorado Sate 4-1 on Thursday at home and GVSU 6-0 on Friday at Georgetown Ice Arena.
Calvert also scored in the first period. Senior forward Drew O'Brien of East Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids HS), and junior forward Ryan Restum of East Lansing, Michigan (Okemos HS), chipped in goals for Hope.
The Flying Dutchmen (16-2-3 overall) return to action on Friday, Jan. 23, when they play Aquinas College at 8:30 p.m. at Griff's Ice House in Grand Rapids.
