Senior Claire Cooper of Williamston, Michigan (Williamston HS), posted a 5K time of 19 minutes, 50 seconds to lead the Hope College women's cross country team at the Muskegon Community College Invitational on Friday.

The Flying Dutch finished fourth at the invitational at University Park Golf Course.

Junior Kate Kooiker of Hamilton, Michigan (Hamilton HS), crossed the finish line next for Hope at 20:20.

Freshman Ellie Best of Portage, Michigan (Portage Central HS), recorded the third-best run for the Flying Dutch at 20:32.

Other top performances for the Flying Dutch were Mackenzie Govier of China, Michigan (Marine City HS) at 20:34, freshman Kelly Ocock of Palatine, Illinois (Palatine HS) at 20:38, junior Amanda Dort of Alpena, Michigan (Alpena HS) at 20:27 and senior Leah Murray of Iowa City, Iowa (West HS), at 20:48. 

Hope will have runners compete on Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational.
