Forward Garrett Gormley scored 4 minutes, 43 seconds into overtime to lift the Hope College ice hockey team to a 3-2 win against Colorado State and a Schupan Memorial Tournament championship.
The Flying Dutchmen won three games in three days to repeat as tournament winners.
Hope (5-0 overall) received a hat trick from Gormley, a sophomore from Fenton, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic HS).
Gormley now has 11 goals on the season. He scored twice during the first period to give the Flying Dutch a 2-0 lead.
Senior goalie Eric Lipon of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton HS), made 34 saves.
Hope returns to action on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 23-24 with a home-and-home series against Davenport.
