The Hope College women's cross country team is bidding this weekend for its sixth consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Championships.
Coach Mark Northuis' Flying Dutch are competing at the Great Lakes Regional on Saturday hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute in Terre Haute, Indiana. The 6K race begins at 11 a.m.
Admission to the host site at Lavern Gibson Championship Course is $5.

The top two finishing teams receive an automatic trip to nationals on Saturday, Nov. 21 in Winneconne, Wisconsin. The remaining teams are funneled into an at-large pool for additional selections.
In addition, the top seven individual runners who are not part of teams that ultimately qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships will also compete in Wisconsin.

Hope is ranked No. 1 in Great Lakes Regional poll. The Flying Dutch are ahead of Calvin, Otterbein Ohio, Case Western Reserve Ohio and Allegheny, Pennsylvania round out the top five.
Hope finished fourth in last year's regional meet and received an at-large berth to the nationals.

The Flying Dutch already claimed the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association title this fall. Junior Erin Herrmann of Wheaton, Illinois (Wheaton-Warrenville South HS) led the Flying Dutch with a second-place finish at the league meet.
