The Hope College ice hockey team suffered its first loss of the season with a 6-5 defeat to unbeaten Oakland on Saturday at Edge Ice Arena.
Zac Massa's goal 2 minutes, 24 seconds into overtime was the game-winner for the unbeaten Grizzlies (13-0-1-0).
The Flying Dutchmen fell to 9-0-1-1 on the season in American Collegiate Hockey Association play.
Hope overcame a 4-0 deficit 12:23 into the home game to force overtime.
Sophomore forward Garrett Gormley of Fenton, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic HS), scored twice for the Flying Dutchmen. He leads Hope with 15 goals.
Hope returns to action on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 13-14 with a home-and-home series against Michigan State.
