Hope Women's Basketball Tips Off RDV Sportsplex Classic Vs. Mount Ida

The unbeaten and nationally ranked Hope College women's basketball team tips off its RDV Sportsplex D3 Classic on Tuesday in Orlando, Florida.

The Flying Dutch will play Mount Ida, Massachusetts at 5:30 p.m. at the former practice home of the NBA's Orlando Magic.

Hope enters its fifth RDV Sportsplex D3Classic with a 9-0 record this season. The Flying Dutch are ranked fourth in this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association national poll and sixth in the D3Hoops.com rankings.

All-time, Hope owns an 8-0 record at the RDV Sportsplex D3 Classic. The Flying Dutch won both games at the tournament in 2013, 2011, 2008 and 2005.

In 2013, Hope defeated Eastern, Pennsylvania 74-61 and Wisconsin-LaCrosse 75-70 in overtime. Maura McAfee, now a senior forward for the Flying Dutch, made the all-tournament team that season.

Hope plays Mount Ida for the first time ever.

The Mustangs are off to a 1-9 start this season. They lost 87-46 to Beloit, Wisconsin in Monday's RDV Sportsplex D3Classic opener.

Center Angie Martinez topped Mount Ida with 13 points and seven rebounds despite being limited to 22 minutes because of foul trouble.

Guard Katlyn Jesse added 10 points for the Mustangs.
