The Hope College women's track & field team saw seven individuals and two relays place in the top five at the Calvin Indoor Invitational on Saturday.
Hope's 4 by 400-meter relay of junior Jane Pearson of Lake City, Michigan (Northern Michigan Christian HS), freshman Rachel Satkiewiecz of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (Seaholm HS), sophomore Sierra Schultz of Kellogg, Iowa (Grinnell Community), and freshman Carly Sommavilla of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS), finished third in 4:21.0.
Pearson placed fourth in the high jump by clearing 1.53 meters. Freshman Allison Rich of Haslett, Michigan (Haslett HS), and senior Jordyn Severt of Traverse City, Michigan (Traverse City West HS), tied for fifth at 1.48.
Junior Karina Winkelman of St. Paul, Minnesota (Woodbury HS), took fifth in the long jump at 4.81 meters.
Senior Janelle Kirsch of Harbor Beach, Michigan (Harbor Beach HS), junior Kaylee Kish of Bay Village, Ohio (Bay HS), and freshman Hannah Howard of Jacksonville, Illinois (Routt Catholic HS), tied for fifth in the pole vault at 9-0.
Freshman Akia Smith of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Forest Hills Northern HS), Howard, freshman Jamelah Travis of Lansing, Michigan (Grand Ledge HS), and junior Rachel Gugino of Holland, Michigan (Calvary HS), clocked a fifth-place 4 by 200 time of 1:59.15.
