Two Ryan Restum goals over the final three minutes lifted the Hope College hockey team to a 3-1 win against Aquinas in the Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference Tournament on Saturday in Byron Center.
The Flying Dutchmen improved to 22-3-3 overall as they advanced to the MCHC Vezina Cup semifinals against Calvin on Friday, February 27, at Georgetown Ice Arena.
Restum, pictured, snapped a 1-1 tie with an unassisted goal with 2 minutes, 23 seconds remaining in regulation. The junior from East Lansing, Michigan (Okemos) added his 17th goal of the season off an assist from senior Eric Webb of Portage, Michigan (Kalamazoo Christian HS), with eight seconds remaining.
Restum leads Hope in scoring with 39 points. He also has 22 assists.
The Flying Dutchmen evened the score at 1-1 on a goal from freshman Austin Huffer of Columbus, Indiana (Watertown HS), 2:09 into the second period. Senior Jared Lehman of Carmel, Indiana (Watertown HS), had the assist.
Junior goalie Eric Lipon of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton HS), made 29 saves for Hope.
