Sophomore Kate Mader of the Hope College women's tennis team has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week for matches played through February 15.

Mader, from Granger, Indiana (Mishawaka Penn HS), overcame a 3-6, 2-5 deficit to defeat Evelyn Youel of NCAA Division I Northern Illinois 3-6, 7-5, 10-2 at No. 6 singles during the Flying Dutch's season-opening match.

Mader is being honored as MIAA Player of the Week for the first time in her career.

Hope returns to action on Saturday, February 28, when the Flying Dutch host Saint Mary's in the MIAA opener at DeWitt Tennis Center.
