Hope Ice Hockey's Drew O'Brien Named MCHC Co-Most Valuable Player

Senior Drew O'Brien of the Hope College ice hockey team has been named Co-Most Valuable Player of the Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference for the 2014-15 season.

The forward from East Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids HS), shared the MVP award with Adrian Gold's Josh Dollinger.

O'Brien led the Flying Dutchmen to a MCHC West Division title with 10 wins in 12 games, including one shootout victory. Hope's leading scorer headlines the MCHC Dream Team along with Dollinger.

Hope coach Chris Van Timmeren was selected Coach of the Year in the MCHC.

O'Brien joined two teammates on the MCHC West Division First Team: junior goalie Eric Lipon of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton HS), and sophomore defenseman Elliott Digison of Midland, Michigan (Midland HS). 

Junior forward Ryan Restum of East Lansing, Michigan (Okemos HS), received MCHC West Division Second Team honors.
