Hope Women's Track & Field Wins Three Events At Southern Invitational

The Hope College women's track & field team won three events at the non-scoring Birmingham Southern Invitational on Saturday.

Junior Marina Milad of Plymouth, Michigan (Canton HS), took first in the triple jump with a leap of 34 feet, 2 ¾ inches.

Sophomore Sierra Schultz of Kellogg, Iowa (Grinnell Community HS), won the 400-meter hurdles in 1 minute, 6.37 seconds.

The Flying Dutch's 4 by 400 relay clocked a winning time of 4 minutes, 1.30 seconds. The relay consisted of junior Jane Pearson of Lake City, Michigan (Northern Michigan Christian HS), senior Katie Afton of Kalamazoo, Michigan (Portage Central HS), sophomore Emma Ropski of Park Ridge, Illinois (Maine Township HS), and freshman Rachel Satkiewicz of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (Birmingham Seaholm HS).

Sophomore Erin Herrmann of Wheaton, Illinois (Wheaton-Warrenville South HS), took second place in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a run of 11:35.07. Sophomore Mackenzie Govier of China, Michigan (Marine City HS), took fifth in 13:03.13, while sophomore Caitlyn Campbell of Rolling Meadows, Illinois (Palatine HS), was seventh at 14:08.05.

Junior Emily Joosse of Chillicothe, Ohio (Zane Trace HS), came in third in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:44.74.

Ropski placed third in the 800 meters at 2:19.42, while freshman Rachael Webb of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grandville HS), was sixth at 2:22.31.

Pearson took third in the javelin with a toss of 108 feet and tied for fifth in the high jump by clearing 4-9.

Junior Kaylee Kish of Bay Village, Ohio (Bay HS), finished fourth in the pole vault at 9-6 ¼. Senior Janelle Kirsch of Harbor Beach, Michigan (Harbor Beach HS), tied for fifth at 9-0 ¼.

Juniors Julia Stock of Norton Shores, Michigan (Grand Haven HS), and Casey Campbell of Swartz Creek, Michigan (Swartz Creek HS), went fourth and fifth in the 5,000 meters by posting times of 4:55.71 and 4:59.19, respectively.

Junior Karina Winkelman of St. Paul, Minnesota (Woodbury HS), came in sixth in the triple jump at 30-5 ¾, while Satkiewicz was seventh at 30-0 ¾.

Hope returns to action at the Emory, Georgia, Invitational on Friday and Saturday, March 20-21.
