Box Score Sophomore Gunnar Elder of East Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids HS), scored twice to lead the Hope College men's lacrosse team during a 14-7 loss at Methodist Saturday in Fayetteville, N.C.
Hope's record is now 2-2 on the season after its two-game win streak was stopped.
The Flying Dutchmen also received goals from freshman Grant Brogan of East Lansing, Michigan (East Lansing HS), junior Will Dommermuth of Littleton, Colorado (Littleton HS), sophomore Ty Miedema of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS), junior Parker Osterink of Longwood, Florida (Seminole HS) and senior Peter Stuckey of Okemos, Michigan (Okemos HS).
Methodist (6-3) grabbed control of the game early by outscoring Hope 7-0 during the first period.
Goalies Seth McCall of Hilliard, Ohio (Hilliard Davidson HS), and Joey Williams of Farmington Hills, Michigan (Detroit Catholic Central HS), both recorded five saves in two periods of play. McCall took the loss.
Hope returns to action on Monday, March 16, at Ferrum, Virginia. Start time is 3 p.m.
