The Hope College women's golf team continued its winning ways Tuesday during its first competition in five months.
The Flying Dutch won the four-team Myrtle Beach Shootout by posting a score of 354 at the Barefoot Golf Club and finishing 11 strokes ahead of runner-up Washington & Jefferson, Pennsylvania.
Junior Morgan Leep of Hastings, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian HS), carded a 14-over-par 85 to finish second out of 25 golfers.
Her sister, Montana, a senior, shot an 88 for third place.
Sophomore Britni Gielow of Norton Shores, Michigan (Mona Shores HS, and freshman Megan Wierenga of Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian HS), tied for fourth with 89s.
It was Hope's eighth victory of the season and first since winning the final Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree in October to secure the outright league championship.
The Flying Dutch also had two other golfers in the top 10: freshman Nicole Meyer of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton HS), with an eighth-place 92 and freshman Megan Klintworth of Jackson, Michigan (Hanover-Horton HS), with a 10th-place 93.
Host McDaniel took third at 394, while Stevenson was fourth at 403.
Hope returns to action on March 28 when the Flying Dutch host Aquinas for an 11 a.m. dual match at The Ravines In Saugatuck.
