Box Score Cousins Landon Brower and Luke Brower both collected two hits for the Hope College baseball team during a 9-3 loss to Springfield, Massachusetts on Thursday in Winter Haven, Florida.
The Flying Dutchmen wrapped up their spring break trip with a 5-2 record.
First baseman Landon Brower went 2-for-4 with an RBI. The freshman from Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS), drove in designated hitter Luke Brower with a seventh-inning single.
Luke Brower, a junior from Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS), had two hits in four at-bats with one run scored.
Sophomore rightfielder JP Batts of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS), added a sacrifice fly against Springfield (2-5), while sophomore catcher Codey Houts of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS), had a run-scoring single.
Losing pitcher Austin Goodyke of Grandville, Michigan (Calvin Christian HS), allowed seven hits and three runs over six innings. Goodyke (1-1) struck out three.
Hope returns to action on Saturday when the Flying Dutchmen opens MIAA play against Trine with a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
