Box Score Sophomore Zach Weber of Ann Arbor, Michigan (Pioneer HS), scored seven times to lead the Hope College men's lacrosse team to a 17-5 win at Dubuque, Iowa, on Saturday.
The Flying Dutchmen evened their overall record at 1-1.
Weber tied for the second-most goals in a single game by a Hope player. The record of eight is shared by Caleb Digison at Calvin on April 23, 2014, and Josh Kamstra at Wilmington on March 18, 2013.
Hope broke open the game in the second period by erupting for seven goals and turning a 2-1 deficit into an 8-3 lead. Weber scored three times during his 15-minute stretch.
Sophomore Gunnar Elder of East Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids HS), and sophomore Ty Miedema of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS), chipped in three goals and three assists apiece for the Flying Dutchmen.
Freshman Seth McCall of Hilliard, Ohio (Hilliard Davison HS), recorded three saves in the first half to earn the win.
The Flying Dutchmen return to action on Thursday, March 12, when they host Bethany, W.V., at Van Andel Stadium. The nonleague match begins at 5 p.m.
