Britni Gielow earned medalist honors while leading the Hope College women's golf team to a seven-stroke victory at the Trine Spring Classic on Saturday in Angola, Indiana.
The sophomore from Norton Shores, Michigan (Mona Shores HS), shot a final-round, 8-over-par 80 at Zollner Golf Course for a 36-hole total of 156.
Hope finished with a team score of 656 after rounds of 329 on Saturday and 327 on Friday. The Flying Dutch were six strokes ahead of runner-up Bethel, Indiana.
Freshman Megan Klintworth of Jackson, Michigan (Hanover-Horton HS), fired a second-round low of 77 to place fifth overall. She was four strokes behind Gielow.
Senior Montana Leep of Hastings, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian HS), and freshman Nicole Meyer of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton HS), tied for 11th overall at 14 strokes behind Gielow. Meyer recorded a final-round 85, while Leep had an 87.
Junior Morgan Leep of Hastings, Michigan (South Christian HS), tied for 22nd at 21 strokes behind Gielow. She had a 92 on Saturday.
Hope returns to action on Tuesday when the Flying Dutch play the first 18 holes of the MIAA's 54-hole NCAA Division III qualifier at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall.
