The Hope College women's golf team tied for first place during the second round of the MIAA's NCAA Division III Championship qualifier on Friday and remains two shots off the overall lead.
The Flying Dutch shot a team score of 329 at The Ravines Golf Club that was matched by Olivet, the first-round-leader.
Hope, the regular-season champion, hosts the final round of the NCAA qualifier today at 2 p.m. at The Ravines.
Junior Morgan Leep of Hastings, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian HS), shot a 7-over-par 79 Friday to lead the Flying Dutch. She finished second overall, three shots behind Olivet's Brooke Kastamo.
Senior Montana Leep of Hastings, Michigan (South Christian HS), chipped in an 82 to tie for fourth.
Freshmen Megan Klintworth of Jackson, Michigan (Hanover Horton HS), and Megan Wierenga of Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian HS), tied for eighth with 84s. Wierenga moved into the starting lineup after sophomore Britni Gielow of Norton Shores, Michigan (Mona Shores HS), could not play because of illness.
Freshman Nicole Meyer of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton HS), shot an 85 for Hope.
The Flying Dutch have a 36-hole total of 654 (335-329) and trail Olivet (333-329). Trine is third at 698 (343-355), while Saint Mary's is fourth at 713 (365-348).
