Hope Women's Golf Opens NCAA D-III Championships This Morning

Hope College tees off at its first NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships Tuesday morning at Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howie-in-the-Hills, Florida.

Coach Greg Stafford's MIAA champion Flying Dutch will send out their first golfer in the 72-hole, four-day tournament at 8:35 a.m. Four other Hope golfers then will follow in 10-minute intervals.

On Wednesday, the Flying Dutch have an afternoon tee time beginning at 12:15 p.m.

Tee times for Thursday's Round 3 and Friday's final round will be based on teams' places in the standings.

Hope is one of 21 teams to qualify for the national championships and one of 16 automatic qualifiers as a league champion. Rhodes, Tennessee, the 2014 national champion, is in the field.

The Flying Dutch averaged a team score of 326.45 this season.

Sophomore Britni Gielow of Norton Shores, Michigan (Mona Shores HS), brings the lowest 18-hole average into the tournament for Hope with an 80.39 average.

Freshman Megan Klintworth of Jackson, Michigan (Hanover-Horton HS), is second on the team at 81.70. She was MIAA medalist last fall.

Senior Montana Leep of Hastings, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian HS), is third for Hope at 82.70.

Her sister, Montana, a junior from Hastings (South Christian HS), is fourth for the Flying Dutch at 84.15.

Freshman Nicole Meyer of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton HS), shot an 84.15 this season for Hope.
