Hope College's Jane Pearson took first place in the heptathlon at the North Central Gregory Invitational on Wednesday in Naperville, Illinois.
The junior from Lake City, Michigan (Northern Michigan Christian HS), totaled 4,588 points over seven events and two days. She finished 170 points ahead of the nearest competitor.
Pearson posted the top shot put effort with a toss of 38 feet, 6 ¼ inches.
Pearson took second in the long jump with a leap of 16-8, in the javelin with a heave of 112-5 and the 200 meters with a time of 26.42 seconds.
She was fifth in the high jump by clearing 4-10 ¼ inches, in the 800-meter run at 2:29.48 and the 110-meter hurdles at 15.74.
