Hope Heptathlete Finishes 16th At D-III Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Hope College's Jane Pearson placed 16th in the heptathlon at the 2015 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships Friday in Canton, N.Y.

The junior from Lake City, Michigan (Northern Michigan Christian HS), totaled 4,738 points over seven events at St. Lawrence University.

Pearson finished 52 points behind school record-holder Lindsay Lange, who set the mark of 4,790 in 2006.

It is the second Top-20 finish for Pearson at nationals. She was 18th in 2014.

On Friday, Pearson took 12th in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 5 ¼ inches, 14th in the javelin with a toss of 98-2 and 19th in the 800 meters with a time of 2 minutes, 37.41 seconds.

A total of 22 athletes competed in the heptathlon.
