Box Score 2 The Hope College baseball team finished the 2015 season with a 23-19 overall record after dropping two games in the MIAA Tournament on Thursday at Adrian.
The Flying Dutchmen fell to Adrian 6-5, then to Calvin 10-3.
Against Adrian, Hope pulled within one run by scoring three times in the seventh and two in the eighth.
Junior shortstop Brady VanderWeele of Kalamazoo, Michigan (Parchment HS) capped the seventh-inning rally with a two-run double to cut Adrian's lead to 6-3.
Sophomore catcher Codey Houts of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS) knocked in an eighth-inning run with an eighth-inning groundout. Freshman centerfielder Tyler Gulick of East Lansing, Michigan (East Lansing HS), then came home on a throwing error.
Adrian retired Hope 1-2-3 in the ninth.
Against Calvin, junior leftfielder Ryan Konkle of Marshall, Michigan (Marshall HS), led the Flying Dutchmen by going 3-for-4 with an eighth-inning RBI double.
Freshman first baseman Danny Carrasco of Grandville, Michigan (Calvin Christian HS), and junior designated hitter Luke Brower of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS), both had run-scoring groundouts for Hope.
