Three freshmen recorded the top performances for the third-place Hope College women's cross country team at the 25-team Calvin Invitational on Saturday in Grand Rapids.
Sarah Neumar of Ann Arbor, Michigan (Huron HS), and Avery Lowe of North Muskegon, Michigan (North Muskegon HS) finished fourth and 11th, respectively, out of 319 runners during the 6K race at Gainey Athletic Complex.
Neumar, pictured, clocked a time of 18 minutes, 11.2 seconds. Lowe finished in 18:36.5.
Freshman Emily Hamilton of Naperville, Illinois (Naperville North HS), placed 28th with a run of 18:58.1.
The Flying Dutch posted a score of 123 points to trail only Aquinas (78) and Calvin (115).
Junior Emily Joosse of Chillicothe, Ohio (Zane Trace HS), placed 39th at 19:09.
Sophomore Rachael Webb of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville HS), rounded out the Flying Dutch's scoring in 41st place at 19:11.3.
Hope returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 26, when the Flying Dutch host the MIAA Jamboree at West Ottawa Golf Club.
