The Hope College women's golf team added to its lead in the overall Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association standings by winning the league jamboree in Kalamazoo on Saturday.
Behind a 5-over-par 77 from junior Britni Gielow of Norton Shores, Michigan (Mona Shores HS), the Flying Dutch shot a MIAA-course record team score of 316 at Milham Park Golf Club to top a nine-team field.
Hope finished seven strokes ahead of runner-up Olivet and extended their overall lead over the second-place Comets to 30 strokes after two events.
On Saturday, the Flying Dutch mirrored the consistency that won the first jamboree of the season. Hope's four scoring rounds were within five strokes of each other.
Senior Morgan Leep of Hastings, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian HS), chipped in a 78.
Sophomore Nicole Meyer of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton HS), carded a 78.
Sophomore Megan Klintworth of Jackson, Michigan (Hanover-Horton HS), recorded an 82.
The Flying Dutch also received an 87 from sophomore Megan Wierenga of Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian HS).
Hope returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 1, when the Flying Dutch play in the MIAA Jamboree hosted by Calvin at The Golf Club at Thornapple Pointe in Grand Rapids.
