The Hope College ice hockey team swept one of the top two teams in the American Collegiate Hockey Association's North Division this weekend.
The Flying Dutchmen skated past Aquinas 4-3 on Saturday on the road and 2-1 at home on Friday at Edge Ice Arena.
Hope, fifth in the North Division standings, raised their record to 17-4-2-1 overall. The Flying Dutchmen handed Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference West Division III leading Aquinas just its third and fourth losses of the season.
On Saturday, goals from four different players led Hope: senior forward Brandon Flood of Mason, Michigan (Lansing Christian HS), sophomore forward Garrett Gormley of Fenton, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic HS), freshman forward Peter Stewart of East Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids HS) and freshman defenseman Caleb Wortz of Okemos, Michigan (Lansing Christian HS).
Senior forward Ryan Restum of East Lansing, Michigan (Okemos HS) chipped in two assists.
Senior goalie Eric Lipon of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton HS) made 33 saves.
On Friday, Stewart and Flood provided the goals. Lipon totaled 36 saves.
Hope returns to action this weekend with the regular-season finale series against Adrian Black. The Flying Dutchmen are on the road Friday at 7 p.m. and at home on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Edge Ice Arena.
