The Hope College women's golf team heads into the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championship with a double-digit lead after tying for first place at the final MIAA Jamboree on Saturday.
The Flying Dutch shot a score of 321 to match Saint Mary's atop the 18-hole event at Pine River Country Club in Alma. They both finished one stroke ahead of third-place Olivet.
Hope maintained a 24-stroke lead over second-place Saint Mary's heading into next week's 36-hole MIAA Championship on Friday-Saturday, Oct. 7-8 at Bedford Valley Golf Club in Battle Creek.
Junior Megan Klintworth of Jackson, Michigan (Hanover-Horton HS) placed in a three-way tie for medalist honors after carding a 4-over-par 76.
Junior Nicole Meyer of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton) tied for sixth with an 80.
Junior Megan Wierenga of Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian) tied for 10th with an 82.
Senior Britni Gielow of Norton Shores, Michigan (Mona Shores) rounded out Hope's scoring with an 83.
Other rounds for the Flying Dutch came from senior Dominique Molinaro of Burtchville, Michigan (Port Huron Northern) with an 87, and senior Elena Moore of South Lyon, Michigan (East) with an 89.
