The 14th-ranked Hope College women's cross country tea made the first of what it hopes are two races at Sawyer State Park a successful one.

The Flying Dutch won the Silver Division of the 2016 Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic on Saturday in Kentucky by recording a score of 103 points. They finished five points ahead of runner-up Bates and 25 up on third-place Emory, Georgia.

Hope recorded seven of the fastest 39 performances.

Senior Erin Herrmann of Wheaton, Illinois (Wheaton-Warrenville North HS) placed second overall out of 332 runners with a time of 21 minutes, 20.40 seconds. Amy Regan of Stevens Institute was first at 20.55.87.

Senior Emily Joosse of Chillicothe, Ohio (Zane Trace) clocked a 21st-place effort of 22:30.77.

Senior Jessica Gaines of Sterling Heights, Michigan (Utica Academy) placed 23rd at 22:31.30.

Sophomore Avery Lowe of North Muskegon, Michigan (North Muskegon) took 20th at 22:44.65.

Junior Rachael Webb of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville) rounded out Hope's scoring in 32nd at 22:51.28.

Other runners in Hope's top seven were junior Alissa Frazee of Watervliet, Michigan (Homeschool) in 38th at 22:54.20 and sophomore Emily Hamilton of Naperville, Illinois (Naperville North) in 39th at 22:55.12.

The Flying Dutch's next race is Friday, Oct. 7 at the Lansing Community College Invitational.
