Megan Klintworth and the Hope College women's golf team closed out a championship three-peat in record-breaking style.
The Flying Dutch set individual and team marks for Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association stroke average while completing their title run with a first-place performance at the 36-hole MIAA Fall Finish at Bedford Valley Golf Club.
Hope shot a second-place 320 on Saturday for a winning total of 619. With 1,903 strokes over 108 holes, the Flying Dutch finished 48 strokes ahead of runner-up Saint Mary's in the overall standings.
Hope's average of 317.2 surpassed the previous MIAA record of 322.7 held by Olivet since 2013.
A Flying Dutch golfer claimed MIAA MVP honors for the ninth time as Klintworth fired a MIAA-record average of 76.7 with 460 strokes over 108 holes. The junior from Jackson, Michigan (Hanover-Horton) passed Martyna Mierzwa of Saint Mary's (2009) and Adrienne Plourde, of Olivet (2013).
Klintworth earned Most Valuable honors for the second time in her career. She also won them in 2014.
Klintworth headlined a six-golfer, All-MIAA First Team that included two teammates: senior Britni Gielow of Norton Shores, Michigan (Mona Shores) and junior Nicole Meyer of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton).
Klintworth topped the field at 7-over (74-77—151).
Meyer finished second in the season standings by averaging 78.7 - the fourth-lowest average in MIAA history. She tied for third at the tournament (73-81—154).
Gielow came in fifth at 80.7. She took second in the tournament (73-88-153).
Senior Megan Wierenga of Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian) made the All-MIAA Second Team. She tied for eighth for the season at 82.3. She was 12th at the tournament (79-85—164).
Senior Dominique Molinaro of Burtchville, Michigan (Port Huron Northern) tied for ninth at the tournament (81-82—163).
Senior Elena Moore of South Lyon, Michigan (East) played as an individual at the tournament and posted back-to-back rounds of 89.
Hope has concluded play for the fall season.
As part of their spring schedule, the Flying Dutch have earned the opportunity to host the final 36 holes of the MIAA's NCAA Division III national championship qualifier in April at a time and place to be determined.
