Sophomore forward Garrett Gormley of Fenton, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic HS) recorded a hat trick to lift the Hope College ice hockey team to a 5-2 win against Adrian Black Friday in the opening round of the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division III regional tournament in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

The third-seeded Flying Dutchmen (20-4-3-2 overall) advanced to face eighth-seeded Central Michigan at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The winner goes on to the March 8-12 national tournament at Southside Ice Arena in Byron Center.

Gormley leads the Flying Dutchmen with 28 goals this season.

Sophomore forward Evan Fall of Royal Oak, Michigan (Royal Oak HS) and senior forward Ryan Restum of East Lansing, Michigan (Okemos HS) also scored for Hope.
