Hope's Marina Milad Fourth In Women's Triple Jump At GVSU Tune-Up Meet

Marina Milad came in fourth in the triple jump to lead the Hope College women's track & field at the Grand Valley State University Indoor Tune-Up on Friday.

The senior from Plymouth, Michigan (Canton HS) leapt 10.3 meters (33 feet, 9 ½ inches). It was a non-scoring meet that featured NCAA Division I, III and III competitors.

Milad was joined by teammates Karina Winkelman of St. Paul, Minnesota (Woodbury HS) in sixth at 9.58 meters (31-5 ¼) and sophomore Rachel Satkiewiecz of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (Birmingham Seaholm HS) in seventh at 9.39 meters (30-9 ¾).

The Flying Dutch finished in the Top 10 in four other events.

Sophomore Rachael Webb of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grandville HS) took ninth in the 800 meters by recording a school indoor record performance of 2 minutes, 19.23 seconds.

Sophomore Alejandra Gomez Limon of Rochester, Michigan (Pontiac Notre Dame Prep) set a school indoor record in the women's weight throw with a toss of 12.08 meets (39-7 3/4).

Satkiewicz placed 10th in both the 200 meters with a run of 26.94 seconds and 400 meters with a time of 1:01.61.

Freshman Maya Smith of Southfield, Michigan (Birmingham Seaholm HS) was 10th in the shot put at 9.12 meters (29-11 ¼). 

Hope's next meet is the MIAA Indoor Championships on Saturday, Feb. 27 at Trine.
