Hope Women's Track & Field Earns Four MIAA Indoor Titles, Finishes Second

The Hope College women's track & field team crowned four champions en route to a second-place finish at the inaugural Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Indoor Championships on Saturday in Angola, Indiana.

The Flying Dutch totaled 133 points to finish second to Calvin's 183 in the meet hosted by Trine.

Hope won the distance medley relay. Freshman Sarah Neumar of Ann Arbor, Michigan (Huron HS), senior Emma Ropski of Park Ridge, Illinois (Maine Township HS), sophomore Rachael Webb of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grandville HS) and junior Erin Herrmann of Wheaton, Illinois (Wheaton-Warrenville South HS) clocked a school-record time of 12:17.85.

Sophomore Rachel Satkiewicz of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (Seaholm HS) sprinted to the 400-meter title by clocking a time of 1:00.69. Ropski placed fourth in the 400 with a run of 1:02.98.

Webb claimed a MIAA title in the 800 meters with a time of 2:19.64.

Herrmann became MIAA champion in the 3,000 meters by recording a time of 10:09.40.

The Flying Dutch scored three more in the 3,000 meters: freshman Emily Hamilton of Naperville, Illinois (Naperville North HS) in fifth at 10:33.95, senior Julia Stock of Norton Shores, Michigan (Grand Haven HS) in sixth at 10:36.70 and senior Emily Joosse of Chillicothe, Ohio (Zane Trace HS) in eighth at 10:55.79.

Satkiewicz earned MIAA runner-up honors in the 200 meters by running 26.89 seconds.

The Flying Dutch recorded four of the top five finishes in the event: Neumar in third at 2:26.42, sophomore Ashley Warner of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS) in fourth at 2:27.49 and sophomore Alexis Guttilla of St. Charles, Illinois (Westminster Christian HS) in fifth at 2:27.63.

Stock took runner-up honors in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:00.34. Freshman Avery Lowe of North Muskegon, Michigan (North Muskegon HS) was eighth at 18:53.39.

Hope scored twice in the 1-mile run: Neumar in third at 5:21.65 and Warner in fifth at 5:26.13.

The Flying Dutch placed third in the 4x400 relay. Senior Jane Pearson of Lake City, Michigan (Northern Michigan Christian HS), Webb, Ropski and Satkiewicz went 4:12.72.

Sophomore Taryn King of East Lansing, Michigan (Haslett HS) finished fourth in the high jump at 1.51 meters.

Senior Marina Milad of Plymouth, Michigan (Canton HS) came in fourth in the triple jump at 10.55 meters.

Hope scored three in the pole vault: sophomore Sarah Murphy of Ada, Michigan (Forest Hills Northern HS) in fourth at 2.95 meters, senior Kaylee Kish of Bay Village, Ohio (Bay HS) in fifth at 2.90 and sophomore Hannah Howard of Jacksonville, Illinois (Routt Catholic HS) in sixth at 2.95.

Sophomore Alison Rich of Haslett, Michigan (Haslett HS) placed seventh in the long jump at 4.98 meters. Senior Karina Winkelman of St. Paul, Minnesota (Woodbury HS) was eighth at 4.89 meters.

Adrian (99) came in third and was followed by Albion (67), Trine (61), Alma (56) and Olivet (23).
