Box Score Junior Gunnar Elder of East Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids HS) continued his scoring tear while leading the Hope College men's lacrosse team to an 18-7 at Muskingum, Ohio on Saturday.
Elder matched his career-high with seven goals for the 3-3 Flying Dutchmen, who were victorious for the third consecutive time.
Elder came within one goal of equaling the school record for goals in a single match. He also chipped in two assists.
Elder tops Hope with 25 goals in six matches this season. He ranks second in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
The Flying Dutchmen used a balanced attack to jump out to a 6-1 lead during the first period against Muskingum (2-3).
Sophomore Grant Brogan of East Lansing, Michigan (East Lansing HS) scored two goals during the first 15 minutes of the match. Elder added one, as did junior Zach Weber of Ann Arbor, Michigan (Pioneer HS), freshman Gino Battaglia of Lebanon, Ohio (Lebanon HS) and freshman Chase Edgar of Indiana, Pennsylvania (Kiski Prep).
Brogan finished with four goals.
Sophomore Joey Williams of Farmington Hills, Michigan (Detroit Catholic Central HS) earned the win with four saves in 45 minutes of action.
