Hope Women's Track & Field Finishes Third At 13-Team Emory Classic

The Hope College women's track & field team placed third in three events en route to a third-place finish at the 13-team Emory Classic on Saturday in Atlanta.

The Flying Dutch totaled 74 points to finish behind Emory (209) and Jacksonville State (133).

Sophomore Rachael Webb of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grandville HS) took third in the 800 meters with a run of 2 minutes, 17.13 seconds. Senior Emma Ropski of Park Ridge, Illinois (Maine Township HS) also scored with a seventh-place time of 2:22.93.

Sophomore Rachel Satkiewicz of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (Seaholm HS) placed third in the 400 meters with a time of 58.50. She also was eighth in the 200 meters at 26.89.

Sophomore Sarah Murphy of Ada, Michigan (Forest Hills Northern HS) finished third in the pole vault at 2.85 meters (9-4 ¼).

The Flying Dutch came in third in the 4x400 relay. Senior Jane Pearson of Lake City, Michigan (Northern Michigan Christian HS), Webb, Ropski and Satkiewicz clocked a time of 4:06.32.

Hope's second relay in the event took fifth. Freshman Jessica Korte of Washington, Michigan (Cairo American), freshman Allison VanderStoep of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS), sophomore Ashley Warner of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS) and junior Sierra Schultz of Kellogg, Iowa (Grinnell Community HS) had a run of 4:19.46.

In the 4x100 relay, sophomore Rachel Anderson of Muskegon, Michigan (Mona Shores HS), Satkiewicz, Schultz and Pearson had a fourth-place run of 50.86.

The Flying Dutch's 4x800 relay of freshman Emily Hamilton of Naperville, Illinois (Naperville North HS), freshman Avery Lowe of North Muskegon, Michigan (North Muskegon HS), freshman Sarah Neumar of Ann Arbor, Michigan (Huron HS) and Warner went 9:44.97.

Neumar placed sixth in the 1,500 meter seeded run at 4:46.75.

Senior Marina Milad of Plymouth, Michigan (Canton HS) was eighth in the triple jump at 10.15 meters (33-3 ¾).

Hope returns to action on Friday, April 1 with a 3 p.m. dual meet against visiting Calvin.
