Hope College's Britni Gielow carded an 8-over-par 79 at The Ravines in Saugatuck to lead the Hope College women's golf team to a first-place finish at its spring quad on Tuesday.
The junior from Norton Shores, Michigan (Mona Shores HS) topped a group of Flying Dutch golfers that posted the lowest four rounds.
Hope recorded a winning score of 325. The Flying Dutch finished ahead of Wheaton, Illinois (357), North Central, Illinois (375) and Calvin (380).
Sophomore Nicole Meyer of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton HS) chipped in an 81.
Senior Morgan Leep of Caledonia, Michigan (South Christian HS) carded an 82.
Sophomore Megan Klintworth of Jackson, Michigan (Hanover-Horton HS) rounded out the Flying Dutch's scoring with an 83.
Hope's fifth golfer, sophomore Megan Wierenga of Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian HS), had an 86.
The Flying Dutch return to action on Saturday when they host Calvin for a match-play event in the second annual DAP Cup. The Alzheimer's awareness event honors Joan Stafford, the late wife of head coach Greg Stafford who died on February 3, 2015 after suffering from Alzheimer's.
