Hope College's Erin Herrmann has been chosen Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Track Athlete of the Week for meets through April 17.
The junior from Wheaton, Illinois (Wheaton-Warrenville South HS) is honored for the first time this outdoor season following her steeplechase victory at the Jim Cole Invitational last weekend at Alma College.
Herrmann won the race by 1 minute, 27 seconds in 10:44.86 to record the second-best time in the nation for Division III this season. Her victory helped Hope win the meet with 291 points.
Herrmann set a school record as well. She eclipsed her previous mark of 10:56.68 that was set last season.
Herrmann previously was recognized by the MIAA during the indoor track & field season: once as an individual and once as a member of the distance medley relay.
