Hope Women's Golf Finishes Third At Whitewater Spring Fling

Britni Gielow and Megan Klintworth matched each other's scores for the second day in a row to lead the Hope College women's golf team to a third-place finish at the Wisconsin-Whitewater Spring Fling on Saturday.

The Flying Dutch recorded a 36-hole score of 646 after Saturday's 319.

Gielow, a junior from Norton Shores, Michigan (Mona Shores HS) and Klintworth, a sophomore from Jackson, Michigan (Hanover-Horton HS) both shot final-round 80s on Saturday.

Gielow and Klintworth both tied for 11th place overall at 159 for the tournament.

Senior Morgan Leep of Caledonia, Michigan (South Christian HS) topped the Flying Dutch during the final round with a 76. She tied for 16th — three strokes behind Gielow and Klintworth.

Sophomore Megan Wierenga of Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian HS) rounded out Hope's scoring with an 83 on Saturday for 26th place overall.

Junior Kelsey Duntley of Livonia, Michigan (Stevenson HS) had a final round 95 for the Flying Dutch.

Hope finished 22 strokes behind champion Wartburg, Iowa and 14 strokes behind runner-up Carthage, Wisconsin. 

Hope's next competition will be the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association 54-hole NCAA championships qualifier, beginning on Tuesday, April 26 at 12:30 p.m. at The Medalist in Marshall.
