Hope Track & Field's Julia Stock Sets Outdoor School Record In 10,000 Meters

Hope College's Julia Stock tuned up for next week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association outdoor track & field championships in a historic way.

The senior from Norton Shores, Michigan (Grand Haven HS) established a new outdoor school record in the 10,000-meter run Friday at the Hillsdale College Gina Relays.

Stock, pictured, clocked a time of 36 minutes, 02.54 seconds to better the old mark of 36:23.7 held by Jenny Ernst since 1999.

The 10,000 meters was the fourth-oldest women's outdoor record at Hope.

Stock finished fourth in the event, but had the second-fastest time among college competitors behind a runner from NCAA Division II Southern Indiana.

Sophomore Rachael Webb of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grandville HS) placed fourth in the 800-meter run. She clocked a time of 2:15.55 that was only eclipsed by three NCAA Division I runners.

Junior Sierra Schultz of Kellogg, Iowa (Grinnell Community HS) took eighth in the 400 hurdles with a run of 1:07.53.

The final day of the Gina Relays begins on Saturday, April 30 at 10 a.m.
