Nicole Meyer fired a 1-over-par 73 to top the Hope College women's golf team during the second round of the 2016 NCAA Division III Championship in Houston, Texas on Wednesday.
The sophomore from Brighton, Michigan (Brighton HS) birdied three holes on the back nine to elevate her into a tie for 18th place in the individual standings at plus-11. She had the third-lowest score of the day.
Meyer also helped the Flying Dutch sit in 10th place out of 21 teams after 36 holes at plus-70. Hope shot a second-round score of 320 — six strokes better than Tuesday's opener.
Junior Britni Gielow of Norton Shores, Michigan (Mona Shores HS) carded a 76 on Wednesday. She's tied for 13th at plus-10.
The Flying Dutch also received an 85 from senior Morgan Leep of Hastings, Michigan (South Christian HS) and 86s from sophomores Megan Klintworth of Jackson, Michigan (Hanover-Horton HS) and Megan Wierenga of Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian HS).
Rhodes, Tennessee moved into first place at plus-34.
Hope tees off at 8:35 p.m. Central on Thursday.
