Britni Gielow and the Hope College women's golf team enjoyed their best day in NCAA Division III Championship competition so far on Thursday.
The junior from Norton Shores, Michigan (Mona Shores HS) fired a 1-under-par 71 at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas, to crack the top 10 of the individual standings after the final round.
Gielow sits seventh at 9-over. She is seven strokes off the lead.
Gielow also helped Hope maintain its 10th-place finish in the team standings with a third-round total of 306 that was the Flying Dutch's best of the 21-team tournament. At 88-over, Hope is just seven strokes out of seventh place.
Sophomore Megan Klintworth of Jackson, Michigan (Hanover-Horton HS) carded a third-round 75 for Hope. She is tied for 41st at 23-over.
Senior Morgan Leep of Hastings, Michigan (South Christian HS) added a third-round 79. She's 75th at 36-over.
Sophomore Nicole Meyer of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton HS) rounded out Hope's scoring with an 81. She's tied for 31st at 20-over.
Sophomore Megan Wierenga of Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian HS) had her best round of the tournament with an 84.
Rhodes, Tennessee leads the field at plus-40. Friday's final round begins at 7:45 a.m. Hope is in the second grouping of three teams.
