The Hope College baseball team beat Kalamazoo 4-2 to force a winner-take-all game in the championship round of the 2016 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament.

The Flying Dutchmen (25-18) will play Kalamazoo at 3 p.m. today at Adrian for a berth to the NCAA Division III Championship.

Closer Matt Glowacki of Goodrich, Michigan (Goodrich HS) set the Hope single-season save record by retiring three of the five batters he faced in the top of the ninth.

With eight saves, Glowacki broke the tie he had with Jordan Carrigan (2010).

Starting pitcher Ty Van Wieren of Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven HS) scattered eight hits and two runs over seven innings for the win. Van Wieren (2-2) struck out one and walked two.

Reliever Michael Thomas of Troy, Michigan (Troy HS) pitched a scoreless eighth after Van Wieren gave up a leadoff single and exited.

Hope took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second when second baseman Jordon Fairchild of Muskegon, Michigan (Oakridge HS) drew a bases-loaded walk and centerfielder Ben De Ritter of Jenison, Michigan (Jenison HS) followed with a RBI single.

The Flying Dutchmen tacked on a fourth-inning run on Fairchild's sacrifice fly and a seventh-inning run when third baseman Danny Carrasco of Grandville, Michigan (Calvin Christian HS) scored during a rundown.

Leftfielder Ryan Konkle of Marshall, Michgian (Marshall) doubled. It was his 17th of the season, setting the school record and breaking a tie with Mark Kuiper (1993).
