Hope College's Erin Herrmann has been named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division III National Women's Cross Country Runner and Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets through September 11.
The senior from Wheaton, Illinois (Wheaton-Warrenville South HS) is receiving the USTFCCCA recognition for the first time in her cross country career and the MIAA for the second time in her career and first time this season.
Herrmann topped a field of 85 NCAA Division II and III and community college runners at the Ferris State Ray Helsing Invitational on Saturday at Katke Golf Course by clocking a 5K time of 18 minutes, 25.8 seconds.
Herrmann helped the Flying Dutch finish first out of five teams in a field that included NCAA Division III and III and community college competition.
Herrmann finished 16 seconds ahead of the nearest competitor for her second victory in as many races this season.
