Junior Nicole Meyer shot even-par to help the Hope College women's golf team successfully begin pursuit of a third consecutive Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship.
The Flying Dutch posted a MIAA-course record score of 309 at the first MIAA Jamboree Monday at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall.
Hope finished 14 strokes ahead of runner-up Saint Mary's and 27 up on third-place Olivet.
Meyer, pictured, carded a 72. The junior from Brighton, Michigan (Brighton HS) placed three strokes better than anyone in the field.
Teammate Megan Klintworth was runner-up. The junior from Jackson, Michigan (Hanover-Horton) fired a 75.
Junior Megan Wierenga of Byron Center, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian) chipped in an 80 to tie for seventh place.
Senior Britni Gielow of Norton Shores, Michigan (Mona Shores) rounded out Hope's scoring with a 10th-place 82.
Other rounds for the Flying Dutch were 83 by senior Elena Moore of South Lyon, Michigan (East) and 87 by senior Dominique Molinaro of Burtchville, Michigan (Port Huron Northern). Moore finished 11th.
Hope returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 24 at the MIAA Jamboree at Knollwood Country Club in Granger, Indiana.
