Box Score Senior Elizabeth Perkins of Eaton Rapids, Michigan (Lansing Christian HS) reached double-digits in goals for the first time in her career, but the Hope College women's soccer team settled for a 1-1 draw against visiting Alma on Tuesday.
The Flying Dutch (5-1-2 overall) dropped into second place in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association standings with a 4-0-2 league record. Kalamazoo beat Adrian 3-0 Tuesday to move ahead of Hope with a 5-0-1 MIAA record.
Perkins now has 10 goals on the season, a career-high. Her previous best was nine during the 2014 season.
Perkins took over sole possession of eighth place among Hope players by reaching 24 career goals.
Perkins gave the Flying Dutch a 1-0 lead 13 minutes, 5 seconds into the match off an assist from junior Erin Brophy of West Lafayette, Indiana (West Lafayette).
Alma (3-3-1, 2-2-1 MIAA), evened the score at 1-1 with a goal off a free kick 10:18 remaining in the first half.
The two teams played two 10-minute, golden-goal overtime periods before finishing tied.
Hope put up 35 shots to Alma's four and earned a 13-3 edge in shots on goal.
The Flying Dutch return to action on Friday, Sept. 23 with a 6 p.m. match at Saint Mary's.
