Women's Track & Field Places First In Distance Medley At Windy City Invitational

The Hope College indoor women's track & field team's distance medley relay recorded the fastest time at the University of Chicago Windy City Invitational on Saturday.

Senior Kate Kooiker of Hamilton, Michigan (Hamilton), freshman Chelsea Miskelley of Holland, Michigan (Black River), freshman Sophia Vander Kooy of Indianapolis, Indiana (Brebeuf Jesuit), and freshman Alicia Bostwick of Zionsville, Indiana (Community) combined for a first-place run of 13 minutes, 14.14 seconds.

The Flying Dutch placed third in the 13-team meet with 69 points. Hope finished behind Chicago (182) and Loyola, Illinois (78).

Junior Alison Rich of Haslett, Michigan (Haslett) came in second in the pentathlon with 2,999 points. Freshman Hailey Pickelheimer of Powell, Ohio (Olentangy Liberty) was sixth with 2,196 points.

Junior Rachel Satkiewicz of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (Seaholm) posted the third-fastest time in the 400 meters at 1:01.17. Freshman Nicole Kruithof of Byron Center, Michigan (Seaholm) finished sixth at 1:05.11, while sophomore Jessica Korte of Washington, Michigan (Cairo American) was seventh at 1:05.92.

Hope's 4x400 relay of Kruithof, junior Rachael Webb of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grandville), Miskelley and Satkiewicz clocked a third-place effort of 4:15.31.

Freshman Emma Johnson of Wentzville, Missouri (Timberland) placed third in the pole vault by clearing 3.13 meters (10 feet, 3 inches). Junior Sarah Murphy of Ada, Michigan (Forest Hills Northern) took seventh at 2.83 meters (9-3), while senior Hannah Howard of Jacksonville, Illinois (Routt Catholic) was eighth at 2.68 meters (8-9).

Webb finished fourth in the 800 meters at 2:20.29.

Sophomore Emily Hamilton of Naperville, Illinois (North) and senior Emily Joosse of Chillicothe, Ohio (Zane Trace) came in fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 3,000 meters at 10:42.91.

Freshman Addyson Gerig of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) took fourth in the high jump at 1.89 meters (6-2).

In the 1-mile run, sophomore Avery Lowe of North Muskegon, Michigan (North Muskegon) and Joosee placed seventh and eighth, respectively, at 5:21.08 and 5:22.84.

Junior Haley Fischman of Grand Ledge, Michigan (Lansing Catholic Central) finished seventh in both the shot put at 10.87 meters (35-7) and the weight throw at 12.67 meters (41-6).

Satkiewicz was eighth in the triple jump at 9.54 meters (31-4).

Hope's next meet is Friday, Feb. 17 at the Grand Valley State University Tune-up.
