Chad Carlson Named MIAA Men's Basketball Player Of The Week

Hope College's Chad Carlson has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played January 30-February 5.

The senior guard from Rockford, Michigan (Rockford HS) is receiving the award for the first time after averaging 22.5 points per game and setting a single-game record for 3-pointers during a two-game stretch last week for the MIAA-leading Flying Dutchmen.

Carlson scored a career-high 30 points and made a single-game school record 10 3-pointers during a 93-88 win at Olivet on Wednesday.

Carlson became the eighth NCAA Division III men's basketball player to make at least 10 3-pointers in a game this season.

Carlson broke Hope's 3-point record of eight shared by Kyle VanderWaal and Daane Griffeth.

Carlson went 7-of-11 from 3-point range in the first half alone against Olivet and sank 10-of-17 3s for the game.

On Saturday, Carlson chipped in 15 points and two more 3-pointers during a 76-71 win at Alma as Hope improved to 10-0 in MIAA play.

Carlson played 77 of a possible 80 minutes combined against Olivet and Alma.

Carlson has 172 3-pointers in his career — second only in the Flying Dutchmen's history to Joel Holstege's 181.
