Hope College's Erin Herrmann finished a personal-best ninth place in the 3,000 meters at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.
The senior from Wheaton, Illinois (Wheaton-Warrenville South HS) clocked a time of 9 minutes, 52.88 seconds to come within one place of earning All-America honors.
Herrmann placed 12th in the 3,000 meters at nationals as a junior.
Marissa Cossaro of SUNY-Geneseo edged Herrmann for eighth by 0.85 of a second.
Ithaca's Taryn Cordani claimed the national title with a run of 9:42.43.
