The Hope College baseball team racked up 18 hits and 19 runs to sweep a nonleague doubleheader from Thomas, Maine on Tuesday in Auburndale, Florida.
The Flying Dutchmen improved to 7-2 overall with wins of 12-0 and 7-5.
Designated hitter Tanner Gilmore of Murietta, California (Alta Loma) went 2-for-4 with a game-high four RBIs, including a three-run homer.
Hope also received three RBI from third baseman Danny Carrasco of Grandville, Michigan (Calvin Christian). He capped a three-run first with a two-run double.
Gilmore's first homer came during a five-run third that gave the Flying Dutchmen an 8-0 lead.
Winning pitcher Eric Plaehn of Lansing, Michigan (Catholic Central) improved to 2-0 with five shutout innings. He struck out two while allowing four hits and issuing one walk.
In Game 2, Hope struck for three unearned runs in the top of the seventh to overcome a 5-4 deficit.
Shortstop Jordon Fairchild of Muskegon, Michigan (Oakridge), pictured by Michael Wilson, and second baseman Michael Barnett of Saline, Michigan (Saline) collected two RBIs apiece.
Reliever Matt VanDyken of Zeeland, Michigan (East) earned the win with 3 ⅓ innings of four-run relief. VanDyken (2-0) struck out three.
Hope wraps up its spring break trip on Wednesday, March 22 with a nine-inning game against Benedictine, Illinois in Auburndale, Florida.
