Senior Dominique Molinaro of Burtchville, Michigan (Port Huron Northern) carded a 6-over-par 78 to lead the Hope College women's golf team during the first day of the 36-hole Carthage Invitational on Tuesday in Championsgate, Florida.
Molinaro, pictured, placed third out of 19 golfers and helped the Flying Dutch score a round of 327 that put them in second place.
Carthage leads by 14 strokes heading into Wednesday's final round at Championsgate Country Club. Hope is 39 strokes ahead of third-place Calvin.
Junior Megan Klintworth of Jackson, Michigan (Hanover-Horton HS) shot a fourth-place 80.
Senior Britni Gielow of Norton Shores, Michigan (Mona Shores) chipped in a sixth-place 83 for the Flying Dutch.
Senior Megan Wierenga of Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian) tied for ninth with an 86.
Junior Nicole Meyer of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton) tied for 12th with an 88.
Senior Elena Moore of South Lyon, Michigan (East) had a 16th-place 98.
